9. CULINARY CORNER: Apple Crumble: Preheat oven to 375°F and spray a 9-inch baking dish. Whisk 1 cup flour, ¾ cup brown sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp salt, and ½ tsp cinnamon, then stir in 8 Tbs melted butter until crumbly. Combine 2 ½ pounds sliced Granny Smith apples, ½ cup sugar, 1 Tbs lemon juice, 2 Tbs cornstarch, ½ tsp salt, and 1 tsp cinnamon, and spread into the dish. Top with the crumble and bake 35 to 45 minutes, until bubbling and golden. Cool 15 minutes before serving, with ice cream if desired.
