Natural Cleaning Hacks Using Everyday Ingredients For A Cleaner, Healthier Home
Simple natural cleaning hacks using everyday ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, and lemon for a cleaner, healthier home.
Cleaning your home naturally is easier than you think using simple ingredients you already have on hand.
Over the last year, I’ve made a big shift in the way I clean my home. I started removing products filled with strong chemicals and replacing them with simpler, more natural options I already had in my kitchen.
Gone are things like fabric softener, heavy disinfecting sprays, and artificial air fresheners. In their place, I’m using ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, and lemon to keep my home just as clean, but in a gentler way.
I still love a home that smells fresh, so I often add a few drops of essential oils to my cleaning mixtures. It’s a small change that makes such a difference.
These are the natural cleaning hacks I use again and again. They are simple, practical, and easy to start using right away.
Think-Decide-Do: Start Cleaning More Naturally
If switching to natural cleaning feels overwhelming, keep it simple.
Think: Look at the cleaning products you use most often.
Decide: Choose one or two to replace with a natural option.
Do:Â Start with something easy, like using baking soda or vinegar, this week.
This simple approach makes the change feel doable and helps you build better habits over time.
A Quick Note About Natural Cleaning
These natural cleaning ideas use simple, everyday ingredients that work well in most homes.
It’s always a good idea to test any mixture on a small, hidden area first, especially on delicate surfaces. Some ingredients, such as vinegar, should not be used on natural stone, such as marble or granite.
And as with any cleaning product, keep everything out of reach of children and pets.
Baking Soda Hacks

Baking soda is one of the simplest and most useful natural cleaners you can keep in your home.
I reach for it almost every day, especially in the kitchen. It works wonders for cleaning my sink. It’s inexpensive, works on so many surfaces, and I always have it on hand.

- Freshen Car Interiors with a bowl of baking soda under the seats.
Vinegar Hacks

Vinegar is another hardworking staple that can clean, deodorize, and cut through buildup.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t love the smell at first, but once it dries, it disappears. Adding a drop or two of essential oil helps if that bothers you. It works
- Heat Vinegar and water in the microwave to loosen food splatters, then wipe clean.
- Descale Shower Heads by soaking them in a vinegar bag overnight.

- Remove Ink Stains from fabric by dabbing them with alcohol.
- Shine Jewelry by soaking it in rubbing alcohol.

Lemon, lavender, and eucalyptus are all great choices if you like a clean, fresh scent without using artificial sprays.
Many natural ingredients are safer than chemical cleaners, but they still need to be used with care.

All great uses for ‘clean’ products. Thanks- Nana Diana
Baking soda and vinegar are THE BEST cleaners. However, when someone is sick and contagious I have one container of Clorox.
I love these cleaning hacks. Thank you.
I’m so glad! They work too!
Thanks, Yvonne, for sharing these great “natural” cleaning tips! There were lots of new ones that I am going to try. I had never heard about cleaning silver with toothpaste but I am going to clean some silver tomorrow and have it ready for Christmas. I am also going to print these natural cleaning hacks and keep them in our kitchen for easy reference. I sure appreciate all the time you put in to bring us such great posts! You always make our life easier! Bless you!
Such a great source of information. Trying to get away from chemicals also, so this came at the perfect time.
Can you share where you got the dish towel that is pictured in the first photo?
Thank you, Lynette. The towel was from Target a couple of years ago. It is no longer in stock. Sorry.
Great ideas for natural cleaning. I make up a daily shower spray using a mix of peroxide, distilled water, rubbing alcohol, vinegar, sal suds and essentials oil (I love tea tree oil and lemon). Smells just like the spa on a cruise ship! I don’t know if we can mention another site here but the “recipe” for this comes from ONEessentialcommunity.com. A great site with many natural cleaning recipes and tips.
