1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: I don’t know of an easier way to add seasonal touches (especially if you’re a last-minute decorator) than to scatter pretty filled bowls around a room.

2. EASY DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK: Mix something old with something seasonal when creating a fall vignette. An antique book, vintage brass candlestick, old crock, or inherited piece adds character beside newer fall decor and keeps the arrangement from looking store-bought.

3. DID YOU KNOW: Did you know that the word October comes from the Latin word octo, meaning eight? October was originally the eighth month of the early Roman calendar before January and February were added to the beginning of the year.

4. FAVORITE FIND FROM LAST WEEK: I took a chance and was shocked at how beautiful this wreath is for only $27! I can’t wait to hang it on my door.

5. LOVELY LIVING AND BEYOND: Before heading to bed, straighten one small area that you’ll see first thing in the morning. Starting the next day with a tidy kitchen counter or peaceful living room is a simple way to make tomorrow feel a little easier.

6. READER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: “I love traditional fall colors, but how do I keep them from making my rooms feel dark?” See #10 for the answer!

9. HOME HACK: Line the bottom of your trash can with a few sheets of newspaper
Before adding the bag, put newspaper in the bottom of the can. It can absorb small leaks and moisture that make the bottom of the trash can messy and smelly.

10. ANSWER TO READER QUESTION (#5):  Pair those beautiful rusts, browns, golds, and deep greens with plenty of lighter colors. Creamy pillows, light-colored pottery, natural linen, and pale wood tones give deeper fall colors some breathing room and keep the overall look warm rather than heavy.

In a large bowl, whisk 3/4 c milk, 2 tsp vanilla, and 1 1/2 c sugar until mostly dissolved. Add 1 1/2 c flour, 2 1/4 tsp baking powder, 3/4 tsp salt, and 2 tsp cinnamon; whisk together. Spoon batter over the butter; do not mix into butter. Sprinkle 1 1/2 c brown sugar over the batter, then pour 1 1/2 c hot water over the batter and sugar. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Mix 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon; sprinkle over the cobbler as soon as it comes out of the oven.

10. THE LAST WORD: One of our family’s favorite fall recipes is Baked Stuffed Pumpkin. So easy. It’s easy, fun, and so delicious.

ANSWER TO #7: One million Earths can fit inside the Sun. The Statue of Liberty was originally built as a lighthouse.

1. FALL TO CHRISTMAS: I love using eucalyptus in my fall decor, but it transitions beautifully into Christmas too. Tuck in a few evergreen branches, add pinecones, berries, or a pretty ribbon, and suddenly that same fall greenery feels festive for the holidays.

2. COZY TIP OF THE WEEK: You don’t have to turn up the heat to make your home feel warmer. Bake something in the oven, light a candle with a warm scent, turn on a few lamps, and grab a cozy throw…the warmth of a home is about so much more than the temperature.

3. AMAZON FINDS: Shop cozy finds I’m loving on Amazon.

4. LITTLE THINGS I’M LOVING:

5. FROM MY KITCHEN TO YOURS: Pumpkin pie in cookie form…yes please! These Crumbl-inspired pumpkin pie cookies are soft, thick, and chewy with a creamy pumpkin pie filling piled on top.

6. UPDATING MY WARDROBE:

7. MAKE THIS WITH ME: I know pumpkin carving will be in full swing over the next couple of weeks, so why not give your pumpkins a cozy twist this year? These quilt pattern carved pumpkins are a fun alternative to the traditional jack-o’-lantern, and I’ve got free printable quilt patterns to make carving your own even easier.

8. OVER ON THE ‘GRAM: My 12 DIYs of Christmas series continued with DIY #4, #5, and #6.

9. WEEKLY MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE: “As long as I have a window, life is exciting.” ~Gladys Taber

10. BEHIND THE SCENES: I saw the quote above earlier this week, and it immediately rang true for me. I finally put our bird feeder back out after tucking it away for the summer, and I’ve had the best time watching all of the birds return…along with the squirrels. We have one squirrel this year who climbs onto the feeder, grabs a sunflower seed from the hopper, and then hangs upside down to eat it every single time. I’ve affectionately named him Harry (as in Harry Houdini) because the positions he manages to get himself into just to steal a sunflower seed are pretty impressive!

Happy Wednesday, friends…
