Yvonne, I’ve been following your blog for so long now that I’ve implemented about 90% of these! I’ve looked at the plastic bag organizer at Costco about a jazillion times though and don’t feel I need it, it is tempting though! Question: when you move things like spices, noodles and rice, etc into a container, how do you keep track of the expiration date? I cook a lot and I probably never go past an expiration date on anything and I probably wouldn’t care if I did! At my daughter’s house (where she’s more particular), we cut it off the package and tape it to the top of the jar. We’ve both given up on having a uniform system for spices and herbs, they stay in their original containers. Turns out, I put paprika in everything I make!
Hi Carol, We use the last in/first out system. I don’t have a big extra suply of things like noodles, or rice. But I always have some on hand. Spices- I just got rid of tons of spices. I use the smell test.
Yvonne, I already use many of these ideas and I will be implementing many more. I remember you posting a few years ago a homemade mixture you used to clean and freshen your kitchen sink. I cannot find the post. Could you please share that with me. Thank you!
I used a product called Bartender’s Friend. I hope this helps.
