Welcome To Wednesday Weekly Wish List #160

It’s DECORATING WEEK! Here’s what I wrote on Monday…

July through the first two weeks of August can be tricky months for blogging! Seasonal decor is mostly wrapped up, and it’s not quite time for fall decorations yet. My friend Heidi at Eleanore Rose Home calls this time of year decorating purgatory!

However, this period is perfect for boosting our decorating IQ before the rush of fall and Christmas. Welcome to DECORATING WEEK! All this week, I’m rewriting and reposting some of the most popular and important “how to decorate” posts to help you become a more confident and skilled decorator!

Decorating Week is part of a larger series called DECORATING SCHOOL. For the next six weeks, I’ll share one or two of the best decorating posts, rich with learning and practical applications and fresh content until mid-August. By the end of this series, you’ll have gone through a comprehensive decorating course that will shine through in your decor!

Make sure you see Monday’s post HERE and yesterday’s post HERE.

On a personal note, Ann will not be joining us this week. Her father passed away, and she needs a little time. We miss you, Ann!

Now, I’m featured first this WWW…

3. ANSWERS TO LIFE’S LITTLE QUESTIONS: The Decorating Edition

  • What is the one thing home decorators overlook when decorating their homes? Taking your home’s style and architecture into account is one of the most important and overlooked things you should consider when decorating.
  • How can you change the color of almost any home decor, such as curtain rods, hardware, and decorative vases? Spray paint or rub and Rub N Buff.
  • How can you make a bed look more luxurious? Hang curtains behind it on a curtain rod. Make sure to hang them as close to the ceiling as possible.

9. EASY PEACH CRISP: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Arrange 4 cups of sliced fresh (or canned/no juice) peaches in the bottom of an 8×8 buttered baking dish. Add 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold butter, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/8 cup sugar in a mixing bowl and combine with a pasty cutter or two knives. Add 1 cup of rolled oats (not instant) and mix in. Sprinkle the crisp mixture over the peaches and pat it down evenly. Bake for 30 minutes until bubbly. Serve with vanilla ice cream. Scrumptious!

Answer to #7: July’s birthstone is a ruby and flower, a larkspur or delphinium. July’s full moon is on July 21. It is called the Buck moon because deer antlers start to grow.

7. FASHION PICKS: I am perpetually on a quest for comfortable heels, being only 5′ 1″ tall, and I recently found the most amazing heels for dress wear. Like me, you may look at them and say there’s no way they are comfortable, but apart from having the front stretched slightly before wearing, I can tell you, they truly are.
