In this week’s edition of HSS we feature the best tips for organizing and putting away Christmas decor, things to do in January to be organized all year, a downsizing journey with lots of sage advice, and a delicious Italian cheesecake recipe.

Welcome To Home Style Saturday #380

Bobby and I just returned from a quick trip to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, one of our favorite destinations. As American history buffs, we love visiting this charming historic town. It is my idea of Christmas land this time of year! The decorations are stunning, especially the wreaths that hang on the doors of pre-Revolutionary War homes. They are carefully and beautifully crafted with natural elements like oranges, dried flowers, and lush greens. Cinnamon, lavender, and cloves waft through the air, a signature of this bygone place.

Everything about Williamsburg, the food, the decor, the period dress, and the sense of being suspended in time made our trip truly special. One of the most meaningful takeaways for me was a deeper appreciation for the frugality and intentionality of the people who lived during that era. Their resourcefulness and simple yet profound way of life are inspiring. And it gave me food for thought about how I might change some things in the new year.

I hope this week, between Christmas and the New Year, is still full of wonder, blessings, and overflowing with those you love! I wish you the happiest New Year! xo
