You Are Here For Such A Time As This
A meaningful look at how God places us right where we need to be, reminding us that we are here for such a time as this.
Have you ever stopped and wondered why you are where you are right now? Not just geographically, but in life. Your family, your circumstances, the season you are in.
It’s easy to look at life and think things just happened. That you ended up where you are by chance or by a series of random events.
But God’s Word tells a very different story. Nothing about your life is accidental.
ESTHER’S MOMENT
The words “for such a time as this” come from the story of Esther.
Esther was an ordinary young woman who found herself in a place she never could have planned. She became queen, not because she worked for it or even dreamed of it, but because God placed her there. At just the right moment, when her people were in great danger, her cousin Mordecai sent her a message that would change everything:
“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
God Chose Our Times
There are times I think about this in a very personal way.
If I were born in a different age or place, I don’t think I could have made it! I can’t imagine cooking every meal over a fire or sleeping in a room full of people with lice, chiggers, and all sorts of other maladies. No modern toothpaste, no hot showers, no electricity!
And yet, God chose this time for me. I am very thankful. So how is it that I am here, in this place, for such a time as this?
It’s not a mistake. Just like Esther, I have been placed right where I am.
And so have you.
God, in His wisdom, chose this time in history. He chose your family, your home, your circumstances, and the life you are living right now.
Even when it feels ordinary. Even when it feels hard. Even when you don’t understand it. There is purpose in it.
Right Where God Wants You
I think this is one of the hardest things to truly believe.
God has placed you exactly where you are supposed to be. It’s easy to look around and wish for something different. A different season. Different circumstances. An easier path.
But God does not make mistakes with where He places His people.
You are in your family for a reason. You are in your home for a reason. You are in your neighborhood, your church, your circle of friends for a reason.
Even the parts of life that feel uncomfortable or uncertain are not wasted. God is working in ways you may not be able to see right now.
And just like Esther, there may be moments when you begin to understand why. Moments when you see that God has been preparing you, placing you, and guiding you all along.
You’re being right where you are is not a mistake, and it’s not chance. It’s been planned with a purpose.
WHEN IT FEELS TOO BIG
What Esther was asked to do was not small. It was overwhelming.
She was being asked to step into something that could cost her life. It would have been so much easier to stay quiet and do nothing. But she didn’t. She trusted that God had placed her where she was for a reason.
There are times when life feels like that. When what is in front of you feels too big and doing the right things feels uncomfortable or even risky.
Times when you wonder if you are really the right person for what is being asked of you. Those are the moments that can stop us in our tracks.
Or they can be the very moments that grow your faith.
Esther did not move forward because she felt confident. She moved forward because she trusted God. And that is what makes all the difference.
God Uses Willing Hearts
One of the things I love most about Esther’s story is this. She did not have everything figured out or how things would turn out.
And she certainly did not feel ready for what lay ahead. But she was willing, and she trusted God.
God is not looking for perfect people. He is not looking for those who feel strong and completely prepared. He is looking for hearts that are willing to trust Him, step forward, and say yes when it’s hard.
That is where faith becomes real. In such a time as this, God works in powerful ways. A willing heart in the hands of God can do more than we could ever think.
For Such A Time As This
Those words were not just meant for Esther. They are meant for you and me, too. God has placed you in this exact time, in this exact place, on purpose. Even when you don’t understand the season you are in or feel uncertain.
God knows. He sees the whole picture when you can only see a small part.
FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU, DECLARES THE LORD, PLANS TO PROSPER YOU AND NOT TO HARM YOU, PLANS TO GIVE YOU HOPE AND A FUTURE. Jere 29:11
And just like Esther, there may come a moment when you begin to understand why God has placed you where you are. Until then, trust Him. Trust that He is working and trust that He will give you what you need for whatever He calls you to do.
Because you are here… for such a time as this.

Yvonne, thanks for the message this morning. Your Sunday blog is just one of the many reasons I look forward to the StoneGable posts. You will be on my list of blessings this Thanksgiving.
And you too, Tammy! Happy Thanksgiving.
Yvonne I must admit I laughed out loud when I read you are a huge fan of indoor climate control. I’m with you on that! I would like to ask permission to use this as a devotional of sorts with a group of women coming out of incarceration. It is so very well said. I won’t change a word!
Yes, of course. My heart rejoices for woman and men who in a very rough time in their lives find the Savior and Lover of their souls! God bless you for your work.
Thank you for this post. I needed to read it today. I’m going through a difficult time with family. Reading my bible and praying about it with this scripture in mind is a timely reminder.
I just prayed for you Nancy! God bless you.
To praise Him in the hard times is the hardest for me. Mental illness effects 4 in my immediate family but
I know God has a plan for us. One of the greatest comfort is I know what lies ahead for us. ETERNAL LIFE WITH OUR
LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.
Thank you for your encouragement!
I know it is so hard to praise the Lord in terrible times. But He is close and gives us strength and we can trust Him. No wonder the Bible calls it the sacrifice of praise.
We wait in hope for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22 May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in you.
This was the end of the scripture we studied in church this morning. Times are a changing and I wonder at the reality that I am living in such a times as this. Never would I have thought I would see a world so “out of control”…Knowing our Lord is control brings hope and purpose! Thank you for this wonderful reminder ♥️
Thank you for this beautiful and true scripture, Nancy! I so agree!
Thankful to be born in a time such as this. And so thankful to be His child. Thankful too for you and your courage to talk of the wonderful God we serve!
Yvonne, I needed this today. Lately I have been questioning my purpose what do I have to give to the Lord. I have a Bible study group and everyone seems to know what their gifts are and how to use them. I am still floundering and I wonder what purpose God has for me. I am so thankful I was born in this country, I too like a climate controlled environment. I will be thinking about Jer.11:29 this week. May God bless you and your family this Thanksgiving.
Cindy keep praying for God to reveal your gifts. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thank you for this reminder of God’s beautiful plan for our lives Yvonne! It’s easy to take our eyes off him and become overwhelmed or discouraged. Blessings to you! Tim
