A Special Announcement
Today is a bittersweet day on Weekly Wednesday Wish List as my two dear blogging friends, Lory and Ann, are saying goodbye to us. While they aren’t fully retiring from blogging, they have decided to slow down and step away from the deadlines that come with creating the Wish List each week.
I truly could not have asked for two kinder or more talented ladies to share 210 Wednesdays with. You will both be deeply missed!
Weekly Wednesday Wish List will continue. I’ll be here every Wednesday with a new Wish List, and I am looking forward to introducing you to a couple of bloggers I think you will love.

1.) After 14 years of blogging, I’ve decided it’s time to make a few thoughtful changes. This post is a personal update about where I am in life, how I’m shifting my workflow, and what that means going forward. If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes, or what it’s like to navigate seasons of change, I hope you’ll take a moment to read.
2.) Take a look at all my Amazon favorites HERE!
3.) FAVORITE QUOTE: “I love being home. I love wearing my comfy clothes. I love doing absolutely nothing. Or doing the things I absolutely love. I love the silence. The solitude. The peace. The warm and calm feeling of being safe and content in my own comfy space. I just love it. I love it all.” ~Vanessa Dewsbury
4.) Beach reading is by far one of the best parts of summer, but with so many books to choose from, deciding which one to tuck into your tote might be the most difficult part. Here is a list of best new releases for summer 2025. Enjoy!
5.) I absolutely adore this ottoman/coffee table…but it’s a bit out of my price range. So I started searching for something similar for a better price, and I hit the jackpot. This less expensive version is unavailable on most sites, but I found it HERE, and was able to order it. I’ll let you know when/if it arrives!
6.) When a husband and wife design duo found a rambling old home on a block near the beach, they created a slice of the Hamptons in Sydney. Take a look at the end result after a 12-month knockdown rebuild.
7.) FUN FINDS FOR THE HOME:
- this darling striped grain sack ribbon
- this cute set that includes a pitcher and 6 glasses
- my favorite round hyacinth placemats
- this set of 2 striped barrel swivel chairs

- this stylish and retro nightstand in 5 colors
8.) EASY RECIPES:
- This chocolate chip muffins recipe is soft, moist, and easy to make with sour cream and pantry staples. A perfectly delicious treat for breakfast or snack time.
- Make this homemade spaghetti sauce recipe and have dinner on the table in an hour. Cooks in the microwave for an easy and fresh family dinner!
9.) HOME TOURS: tour this undeniably cute and cozy Nantucket cottage, and then wander around this interior designer’s quaint home.
10.) This is my final week participating in The Wish List, and I want to take a moment to say thank you. Being part of this roundup has been such a fun and inspiring experience, and I’m grateful to have shared it with you. As I shift into a new season with a lighter schedule, I’ll still be sharing favorite finds, just in a different format. I hope you’ll continue to follow along as things evolve!

In a large bowl, whisk together ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil, 3 tablespoons sherry vinegar or red wine vinegar, 3 grated garlic cloves, ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard, heaping ½ teaspoon sea salt, and several grinds of black pepper. Add ½ cup thinly sliced red onion, 1½ pounds tomatoes (sliced into wedges or halved), ½ English cucumber (sliced into half moons), and the toasted bread. Toss to coat. Add 1 cup fresh basil leaves, torn, and gently toss again. Season to taste and garnish with more fresh basil. Serve immediately.
10. THE FINAL WORD: What do you think? I’ve seen some bloggers featuring fall posts already. Would you like to see early fall ideas on blogs now? Leave a comment and let me know.
ANSWER TO #7: St. Augustine, Florida, is the oldest town in the United States. It was founded by the Spanish in 1565. Congress voted to approve the resolution for independence on July 2, 1776. It took two more days to get the wording just right in the declaration. Now you know!
Happy Wedsday, friends…

Yvonne, since we are in the first days of summer I prefer to see posts that reflect summer. Mid August is when I am interested in reading about autumn!! Thanks for asking! Enjoy these days of warmth!!
Hi Gail, thanks for your input. Happy Summer!
I’ve enjoyed Weekly Wednesday Wish List and am sorry to see Ann and Lory go. I suppose once you are in your forever home you run out of ideas to post. You can’t keep inventing the wheel.
I’m not ready for fall ideas. We’ve just started summer. Let’s enjoy the lazy days for a while more.
I agree! Happy Summer, Joanna
No fall stuff yet! It’s barely summer! I hate feeling rushed through the seasons. Let’s enjoy what God has given us right now!
Ann, Lory and Yvonne,
First and foremost there are not enough words in the English language to express my appreciation for all the hard work each of you do with creating your blogs, recipes and Weekly Wednesdays! You are truly the dynamic trio when it comes to design. Each with its own style which I LOVE. Ann and Lory I truly get it with slowing down and striking a balance. Of course I will continue to follow you❤️. Thank you for all your creative ways that has helped me through my downsizing of our home, decorating, keeping things less visually cluttered and just embracing each of your styles. I see a piece of each of you in my home. It’s like having three sisters I have never known❤️
Since you asked, I think it’s a little early for fall ideas. Maybe I’d be okay with that toward the end of July, but right now I can’t think that far in advance! JMO! 🙂 And I need to say I will miss Lory and Ann so very much. But I know you will bring on other remarkable bloggers, and I look forward to next week.
Yes, they will be very missed!
Yvonne, Fall is my favorite season❤️. The older I get the more I try to embrace every holiday and season. That must be a challenge for bloggers… can’t imagine juggling all the work each blogger goes through. I prefer not to see fall popping up until at least August… possibly mid August. Sort of tied into when kids are getting ready to get back to school. Totally understand that may not be desirable. You do what works for you! I am following no matter what.
Thanks, June. I like to begin blogging about fall in mid-August. Just asking because I’ve already seen fall popping up on a few blogs I follow.
I will miss Ann and Lory. So glad you are carrying on!
Childersburg, Alabama, is proclaimed as the Oldest Continually Occupied City in America, dating to 1540. The city’s beginnings date back to Coosa, a village of the Coosa Indian Nation located in the area. Hernando DeSoto, Governor of Cuba and Adelantado of Florida, accompanied by an army of six hundred men, reached the mighty empire of the great Coosa on July 16, 1540, and arrived at the town of Coca Coosa, located on the east bank of the river between the mouths of two creeks, now known as Talladega and Tallaseehatchee. The Coosas welcomed the travel-weary invaders and even offered land to establish a Spanish colony. DeSoto declined the offer and left the Coosa in August of 1540.
The report of the DeSoto Commission, U. S. Congress, House, Final Report of the United States DeSoto Expedition Commission, 76 Congress, 1st Session, 1939, House Executive Document Number 71 which was chaired by John R. Swanton offers telling evidence of DeSoto’s route and stated irrevocably the site of Coca was noted to be the area in proximity to the present town of Childersburg, Alabama. Dr. Walter B. Jones, Secretary of the DeSoto Commission and noted Alabama geologist, has written many articles in support of the commission’s conclusion.
The Childersburg, Alabama area, so rich in Indian lore and artifacts, abounds in culture and traditions, substantiated by much written documentation, and can support its claim to being the “oldest continuously occupied town in the United States.” ~Judy M. McSween
I knew you were going to say St. Augustine. We still make the claim that Childersburg is the oldest continuously occupied town in the U.S., while St. Augustine may be the oldest settlement of European immigrants. Just a fun fact!
Do you work for the Chamber of Commerce? LOL! Very interesting.
Hahaha! No, I don’t. I live close to Childersburg and always see their sign announcing they are the oldest city in America. So, when I see someone saying St. Augustine is the oldest city, I just have to chime in. It’s fun to see people’s response and ask, “Where in the world is Childersburg, AL?” 🙂
