Easter is just around the corner, and we all need easy last-minute Easter ideas. So today, I’m sharing creative and easy Easter ideas when you don’t have much time! Easter is a busy time for those of us who have our family and friends for Easter. It is a blessing, although a good deal of work. Here are a few ways to prepare for Easter and enjoy the process. Choose a few ideas that will bring you joy.
Style A Simple Spring Arrangement

Flowers and spring blooming branches are the perfect last-minute addition to your Easter week home!
Spring Flowers

One of my favorite ways to add beauty and life to our home is by picking up a bunch or two of grocery store flowers and creating a simple arrangement for a table. I look for seasonal blooms, like tulips, and group them in a pretty vase for an easy, cheerful centerpiece. If I can find eucalyptus at our local store, I always add a few stems. It gives the arrangement a fuller, more textured look.
Faux flowers work beautifully too, especially if you’re short on time. You can style them in the same way, and they’ll last through the season. To make them look more realistic, tuck in a few sprigs of real greenery like dollar eucalyptus or seeded eucalyptus. It’s a smart way to stretch your decor from Easter to early summer.
Spring Branches

Spring branches are another favorite. They’re the epitome of spring decorating! Cut a few from a blooming tree and arrange them in a tall vase for a breathtaking centerpiece. Remember, they’re short-lived, so cut and style them the same day you want to showcase them.
If you’d like something longer-lasting, faux spring branches are a wonderful option. Right now, bright forsythia branches grace our foyer, and white cherry blossoms fill a large urn on our white buffet. Easter is the perfect time to bring in the look of spring blooms—real or faux!

Dye Easter Eggs
Now is the perfect time to dye Easter eggs. Choose your favorite method, and this year, try using your Easter color palette as inspiration. There are so many beautiful ways to dye eggs, but I love using natural ingredients.
Onion-skin-dyed eggs are my favorite. I learned this simple method from my grandmother and mother, and this simple and economical method was passed down in our family for generations. The rich, earthy tones you get from onion skins are something you just can’t replicate with a store-bought kit. If you’ve never tried them, Onion-Skin-Dyed Easter Eggs are a must!

Another favorite is Naturally Dyed Blue Easter Eggs. Like onion-skin eggs, they are so easy to make using a vegetable from your grocery store!

This year, I’m also trying a new natural dye method to tint eggs green using a mix of frozen blueberries and raspberries. I’ll share more about it in a last-minute Easter post later this week—stay tuned!
If you have a little extra time, you might want to make Decoupage Easter Eggs. It’s a fun and easy craft, and the eggs look beautiful on an Easter table. Decoupaging is surprisingly satisfying—it’s a simple way to upscale almost anything!

Set Your Easter Table Early
Setting your Easter table a few days early is such a smart idea. It’s one more thing checked off your to-do list, and you’ll get to enjoy a beautifully set table leading up to Easter. Or you can gather everything you’ll need ahead of time and store it in plastic dishpans. Tuck them away until you’re ready to set the table. It takes the stress out of doing it all at the last minute.
This year, we’re having a smaller gathering of eight. I’ll add the leaf to the table and get it set on Thursday. Hopefully, I’ll have a few pictures to share in this week’s menu post on Friday!

Here are some ideas to help you set your Easter table…
- Layered Tablecloths: Create visual interest by layering tablecloths in complementary colors or patterns. Opt for a neutral base with a vibrant overlay to add a pop of color.
- For The Centerpiece: Make a statement with a grand centerpiece that spans the length of the table. Consider a low arrangement of containers of tulips with a collection of candles between them.
- Mix-and-Match Tableware: For a pretty and eclectic look, mix and match dinnerware, glassware, and flatware. Coordinate colors and patterns for a cohesive feel. I personally love this look. It’s a great way to set a table for a crowd when you don’t have enough of the same dishes for everyone.
- Personalized Place Settings: Add a special touch by creating customized place settings for each guest. Consider adding handwritten name cards, small Easter favors, or individual floral arrangements to make each setting feel unique. Another favorite.
- Intimate Table Setting: Set a smaller table for your guests to create an intimate and cozy atmosphere. Opt for a round or square table to encourage conversation and connection. This is a great idea for a kid’s table.
- Festive Jellybeans: Put a few small bowls of jellybeans on your Easter table. They are so festive.
- Seasonal Centerpiece: For a simple yet elegant centerpiece, use a small arrangement of seasonal flowers or greenery. Consider incorporating elements like Easter eggs, candles, or small decorative accents for added charm.
- Elegant Tableware: To elevate the look of your table setting, choose elegant tableware in all white. For a sophisticated touch, consider crisp white plates, crystal glassware, and polished silverware. Then top of the dinner plate with a small nest that has one colored Easter egg in it. This table will be remembered!
- Thoughtful Details: Pay attention to the details by adding thoughtful touches to your table setting. For example, fold cloth napkins in a special way for Easter.
- Fresh Herbs: Tie up cloth napkins and add a sprig of fresh herbs like rosemary.
- Buffet-style Service: If you’re hosting a large group, consider setting up a buffet-style serving area to accommodate the crowd. Arrange platters and serving dishes at various heights to create visual interest and make it easy for guests to access food.
- Personalized Menus: Treat your guests to a personalized dining experience by creating custom menus for the meal. Print individual menus with the day’s offerings and place one at each setting. You can even include a special message or Easter blessing to make the occasion extra memorable.
- Thoughtful Take-Home Gift: Place a small gift, like a small potted plant or a nest with Onion-Skinned Dyed Eggs, at each guest’s place setting.
Whether you’re hosting a large group or a small gathering, these additional ideas will help you create a memorable Easter table that delights your guests.
Add Blooming Bulbs To Your Decor

One of the prettiest, time-honored Easter traditions is to bring pots of blooming bulbs into your home to add to your spring decor, especially during Easter week.
Instead of leaving them in their original plastic pots, replant them in something pretty. I LOVE doing this! It’s so easy! I’ve used planters, pedestal bowls, cups, creamers, glass hurricanes, and other items to take them from nice to a beautiful, eye-catching spring and Easter arrangement. I’ve even planted tiny pansies and violas in eggshells!
This week is the perfect time to Repot Blooming Bulbs to add to your home!
Make-Ahead Dishes For Your Easter Celebration

Making dishes ahead that you will serve on Easter is a practical and smart thing to do. I try to make as much as I can ahead of time so Easter becomes more about celebrating with my family than cooking all day! Here are some ideas to help you prepare ahead and still serve up a spectacular spread on Easter day:
- Casseroles and Quiches: Whip up hearty casseroles or quiches that can be assembled the day before and baked fresh on Easter morning. Options like breakfast casseroles, savory quiches, or vegetable gratins are not only delicious but also easy to prepare ahead of time. Our family’s favorite is the Holiday Breakfast Casserole. We eat it twice a year- on Christmas and Easter, and my kids and grandkids are so excited to know it will be on our brunch table for Easter.
- Slow Cooker Creations: Use your slow cooker to prepare flavorful mains and sides with minimal effort. Dishes like slow-cooked ham, pulled pork, or creamy mashed potatoes can be prepped in advance and left to warm while you attend to other tasks.
- Marinated Meats: Marinate meats like lamb, chicken, or beef overnight to infuse them with flavor and ensure tender, juicy results. Simply pop them in the oven or on the grill on Easter day for a stress-free main course that’s sure to impress. This is one of my go-to Easter dinner ideas.
- Salads and Sides: Many salads and side dishes can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Opt for refreshing salads like pasta salad, potato salad, or green bean salad, which often taste even better after the flavors have had time to meld together. Nani’s Best Dill Pickle Potato Salad is a winner! It’s been a part of our Easter tradition for generations.
- Desserts and Treats: Indulge your sweet tooth with make-ahead desserts and treats that can be prepared days in advance. Classics like carrot cake, cheesecake, or fruit tarts are perfect for Easter and can be stored in the fridge or freezer until ready to enjoy. This year, I’m making two Scrumptious Rhubarb Galette. These rustic pies are so easy to make, stunning to look at, and delicious. Use frozen rhubarb (since it is not in season yet) or any other fruit. You might also like Strawberry Lemon Pound Cake with Lemon Glaze. Perfect for spring and Easter.
- Freezer-Friendly Fare: Take advantage of freezer-friendly dishes that can be made well in advance and simply thawed and reheated on Easter day. From lasagnas and meatballs to soups and stews, there’s no shortage of delicious options that can be prepared ahead and frozen for later. I’m making small versions of Grandma Lo Bianco’s Famous Italian Meatballs to serve as appetizers.
- Bread and Rolls: Bake fresh bread or rolls ahead of time and freeze them until Easter day. Simply reheat them in the oven before serving for that just-baked taste without the last-minute hassle. I make this Irish Soda Bread all year. It’s much easier to make than Paska or other yeast Easter breads, and it has a lovely texture and flavor.
- Appetizers and Snacks: Prepare a selection of appetizers and snacks for guests throughout the day. Options like deviled eggs, cheese platters, and dips can be prepped in advance and set out for guests to nibble on while you put the finishing touches on the main meal.
By planning ahead and using these make-ahead Easter dishes, you can spend less time in the kitchen on Easter day and more time enjoying the company of your loved ones. So, get a head start on your Easter menu and make this year’s celebration one to remember!

Frequently Asked Questions
The most simple grocery store arrangement of spring tulips will make the biggest difference on an Easter table. Choose tulips that work with your color palette, adding in a few sprigs of green to give your arrangement depth and interest. Other ideas are to add a chocolate bunny to each place setting for a fun and delicious surprise, layer dishes at each place setting, and add a bowl of beautifully colored Easter eggs to the table.
Less is often more. Focus on a few key areas like your entryway, dining table, and kitchen island. Add one or two Easter touches like a bunny figurine, a nest with eggs, or a spring wreath. Remember, it’s about creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere, not filling every corner with decorations.
Use what you already have to create a pretty, inexpensive Easter table. Using dishes, linens, and other tableware in the same color palette will give your Easter table a more cohesive look. Add a vase of store-bought cut spring flowers, like tulips, or a trio of Easter bulbs in pots. To finish the look, put a basket filled with grass and dyed Easter eggs on the table.
I hope this post has inspired you to prepare your home and table for this holiday. May your table, family, and all who gather with you be blessed!
Happy Monday, friends…
