Welcome To Weekly Wednesday Wish List #173

Are you thinking about Thanksgiving yet? There are only seven weeks until Turkey Day, and (I almost hate to say it…) less than four weeks after that until Christmas! I’m soaking in every fall day and planning for Thanksgiving Day, too. Thanksgiving is a very busy work-intense day, and over the years, I’ve learned to be very organized and plan the holiday out.

During Thanksgiving, our home is full to overflowing with overnight family and a plethora of little kids. Oh, it’s chaotic, messy, and just magical! My goal is to have a memory-making Thanksgiving. A beautiful day, but not a perfect day. Perfection has no place in this big, grateful-for-our -blessings day! It is a fun sucker!

One of the best ways to enjoy Thanksgiving is to follow a plan! I’ve created an easy 3-week plan to get ready and be organized for the big day! You can get your printable Thanksgiving Planner below…

Let’s celebrate every day to its fullest!

1. Every now and then I have something personal to share and this week, I have something really special. Last month my daughter got married on a rooftop in New York and we just got back the short video trailer. If you’d like to take a peek, just for fun, you can see it on my Instagram page HERE. And if you’re not already following my Instagram page, please consider following, too… 🙂

2. Not that long ago I made the decision to give up a bedroom in order to get a sitting room upstairs. You can see the results in this week’s top post: Repurposing a Bedroom Into a Small Sitting Room. Also a reader favorite is this look at Thanksgiving Decor and 6 Values Worth Celebrating This Holiday featuring an unusual fall color palette.

3. AMAZON PICKS: here are this week’s favorites from Amazon, including items on sale for Prime Day.

4. THIS WEEK ON THE BLOG I shared these seasonally inspired posts:

5. Currently crushing on BLOCK PRINT PILLOWS such as:

6. Currently crushing on CHOCOLATE BROWN such as:

7. Currently crushing on ANCIENT TARTAN PLAID such as:

8. FASHION PICKS: The perfect transition piece, cardigans are happening this year in a big way. Some current faves:

9. WHAT I’M READING: I just finished a wonderful Fredrik Backman book called Beartown, which ostensibly is about a hockey town, but is actually so much more. Do not be put off if you have no interest in hockey. “Beartown explores the hopes that bring a small community together, the secrets that tear it apart, and the courage it takes for an individual to go against the grain.”

3.) FAVORITE QUOTE: “To be kind is more important than to be right. Many times, what people need is not a brilliant mind that speaks, but a special heart that listens.” ~F. Scott Fitzgerald

4.) INSPIRING PLACES: Emily Henderson’s kitchen that’s designed for comfort, this cute little French country cottage, this budget beach shack makeover in Oregon, and this designer’s charming and cozy Nantucket cottage.

5.) RECENT FASHION FINDS:

6.) I am just beginning to think about Christmas, and how I want to design our decor. I love changing the ribbon garland on our Christmas tree, because it’s a quick and easy way to update without reinventing the wheel. Last year I found an Etsy shop called Bella Wreaths Too with the most gorgeous ribbon I’ve ever seen. Some of it’s pricey, but a good portion is very reasonably priced. I used this green plaid 4-inch ribbon on our tree last year. I still haven’t decided if I’m using it again, or splurging on something new. If you love ribbon, you definitely have to check it out. (Please don’t wait if you are interested. Items are selling out fast!)

7.) Ready or not, the holidays are coming, and the OSP free planners are updated for 2024! The Thanksgiving Planner and the Home For The Holidays Christmas Planner are both ready to go.

8.) I recently made a batch of my pumpkin bread, but I made a couple of changes that take away some of the fat and calories. I followed the recipe, except I decreased the sugar to 1 cup, and I substituted 3/4 cup applesauce for half of the oil. It was delicious and moist!

9.) AUTUMN RECIPES TO TRY: if you love one pot recipes, try this vegetable beef soup or this family friendly spaghetti soup. This butternut squash casserole looks easy and so yummy, and everyone will cheer for this sausage, veggie, + apple sheet pan dinner.

10.) That’s a wrap for this week. I hope you all are well, and enjoying these fleeting October days. XO

Place a peel and cube a large sweet potato, 8 oz. peeled and cubed butternut squash, 10 baby potatoes sliced in half, 1/2 pound of green beans, 3 medium carrots sliced in half, 8 oz. baby bella mushrooms sliced in half, 1/2 red onion cut into wedges, and 1 head garlic on a rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle with 2 TBS olive oil, 2 TBS balsamic vinegar, and sprinkle 2 TBS Italian seasoning, 1 tsp salt and pepper. Toss to coat all the veggies. Bake for 45-50 minutes until fork tender.

10. MOVIES WORTH WATCHING: These are such beautiful movies. Make sure to grab a Kleenex! The Magic Of Ordinary Days, I’ll Find You (based on a true story), and this glorious series War And Peace (based on historical events).

ANSWERS TO #7: October’s full moon occurs on October 17th and is called the Hunter Moon because it signals a time for the hunters to prepare for winter. October’s flowers are cosmos, calendula, and marigolds. An opal is October’s birthstone.

What is the name of the lovely plant on the round wooden table with pumpkins? I’ve never seen one like it and am wondering if I could grow it in my area (eastern TN). Thank you for reading and responding and thank you for all your beautiful ideas, God bless you!
